SPA Resort Diamant Dudince was built in 1986 with a specific purpose – to provide treatment for local and foreign government and political leaders and was known under the name “Sitno”. After the velvet revolution in 1989, in 1991, it was was incorporated into the network of state institutions Slovtermae and in the same year it was renamed to “Diamant”.

The first written mention of Dudince (Dyud) dates back to 1284 (landowner Stefan, а royal messenger). The document of 1301 mentions two separate settlements: the Horne and Dolne Dudince. The present name Dudince is dated 1773. In the scientific literature, Dudince is mentioned as a SPA Resort in 1777 in a book dedicated to balneography (description of resorts) “Healing springs of the monarchy of Austria” by Professor Johann von Crantz, who named Dudince mineral water as hot mineral springs Gyogy. Matej Bel in 1742 described the healing properties of hot mineral springs in the work “Historical and geographical knowledge of northern Hungary.” The healing power of Dudince mineral water has been known since time immemorial. Since the Roman conquests, pits n the travertine called “Roman baths” have been preserved, which reminds us of the using of mineral water springs for medicinal purposes not by the local population only. Dudince mineral springs were the property of feudal landlords. In the middle of the 19th century springs were the property of Prince Coburg, who, however, did not develop them. In 1828 in this miniature village there were only 19 houses and lived only 112 inhabitants. To date, there are about 1500 inhabitants.
